Seasons 3 and 4 of ‘Atlanta’ to be Filmed in 2021
Fans of Donald Glover’s hit TV show Atlantahave been patiently waiting for season three for over two years. Welp, that wait just got longer.
The show was originally supposed to return in January 2021, however, the ongoing production hiatus due to COVID-19 means that production for season three cannot resume until next year. Filming was supposed to take place in Europe following the season two finale where Al, Paper Boi, was about to embark on a European tour.
FX Networks Chairman, John Landgraf, said in a press conference that production for the hit show will resume in early 2021, and season three will be released later next year. However, he was not able to give an exact date.
Even though this news is heartbreaking, especially for die-hard Atlanta fans, Landgraf did share some good news. He said that the writers for the show have been very productive in these last few months and have written almost the entirety of not only season three but season four as well. This means that the seasons will be shot back to back
Season three of Atlanta was ordered back in June of 2018, not long after the season two finale. The long wait in-between seasons two and three were attributed to Glover’s busy schedule.

Killer Mike is facing some backlash for meeting with Georgia governor Brian Kemp.
“Today, Marty and I had a great meeting with @KillerMike. We discussed how small businesses and the music industry are weathering the pandemic, the value of our skilled trade workers, and our fight to end human trafficking in Georgia. We look forward to seeing him again soon,” Kemp wrote in the caption of the tweet with photos of Render and himself.
Kemp’s tenure as governor has been met with controversy. While still a candidate for governor, he was investigated for purging 300,000 voters from the state’s voter rolls. He refused to take measures against COVID-19 and even threatened to sue Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, for instituting a mask policy for her city.
In August, Kemp introduced a new law that would aim to protect police officers. This has been called tone-deaf based on the current climate in the United States.
However, the one half of the ‘Run The Jewels’ duo held his ground against people coming for him on Twitter. Some people called Killer Mike a sellout and were unsure why he decided to have a meeting with Kemp, whose whole run as governor has been riddled in controversy. However, despite being a progressive, Mike believes that change comes from engaging with people with different ideologies and ways of thinking.

Nashville, TN, September 9, 2020 – The winners of the US-based Unsigned Only Music Competition were announced today. The overall 2020 Grand Prize is awarded to the Haitian world music artist Jean Belony Murat, known as BélO. He is also the winner of Fandemonium, Unsigned Only’s online public vote.
Established in 2012, Unsigned Only has become known as the leading music competition honoring international artists who are not signed to a major record label. It has become an important source for discovering new talent and acts as a benchmark for excellence in the arena of contemporary music. Selected from more than 7,000 entries from 109 countries, the winners share in over $160,000 in cash and prizes split among 38 winners.

The Artists That Blurred The Lines Between Rap and Rock By: By Jae Bree
Nowadays, we have plenty of genre-hopping magicians like Kendrick Lamar, MGK, and Lil Nas X who continue to show the world how rap can stand alongside any genre. But combining genres wasn’t always this easy. While many of us are already familiar with how Run DMC and Aerosmith collaborated on the first rap-rock song in 1986’s Walk This Way, there are many other artists who paved the road for the uneasy and ever-evolving peace between two of the world’s biggest and baddest music genres.
Anthrax and Public Enemy
During the early ‘90s, hip hop was entering its golden age while bands like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax – also known as The Big Four – were leading the aggressive charge of the thrash metal scene. The guitarists from these bands are known for popularizing the overdrive pedal, a now-staple gritty, crunchy, gain-heavy sound in the modern metal genre. And it was during this era that the legendary Scott Ian, Anthrax’s rhythm guitarist, lent his overdrive chops to one of the greatest rap groups in history. Today, the 1991 Anthrax and Public Enemy song Bring The Noise is widely recognized as the first rap-metal song in history.
Rage Against the Machine
During the same year that Bring The Noise was released, Rage Against the Machine (RATM) was formed. And from 1992 onwards, the band has released a slew of some of the most important rap-rock albums of all time. There’s no doubt that the driving force of this political rap-rock machine is vocalist Zach de la Rocha, who spits verses and sings with one of the most recognizable voices in ‘90s alternative rock. Meanwhile, the wild rock guitar riffs that RATM is also known for were supplied by Tom Morello, a known hogger of distortion pedals and other effects, which allowed him to become one of the most influential experimental electric guitarists of all time. RATM didn’t just blur the lines of rap and rock. They’re what happens when you completely ignore the line and do whatever you want.
The Black Keys
These blues-rock legends made the list for one huge reason: the 2009 album Blackroc. Roc-A-Fella records co-founder Damon Dash worked with The Black Keys to produce arguably the greatest collection of blues-driven rap rock songs in history. Collaborators include the rapper formerly known as Mos Def, Jim Jones, Q-Tip, RZA, Raekwon, Nicole Wray, Pharoah Monch, the Ol’ Dirty Bastard, and other rappers and rnb singers. While RATM drew from the aggressive similarities between rap and rock, the artists who worked on Blakroc tapped the soulful connections between blues, rock, rnb, and hip hop.
Fronted by Illaman, London’s ‘hardest working emcee,’ PENGSHUi is a proto-punk, dubstep-driven hip hop group that was formed in 2018. The band’s dubstep drops and hard rock melodies are care of multi-instrumentalist and pedal hogging bassist Chris Hargreaves, while DJ Pravvy Prav supplies the aggressively technical drumming. PENGSHUi is a taste of how rap-rock has evolved over the years, a contemporary rickety bridge between the age-old alliance of punk and hip hop.
Speaking of punk, many forget that the Beastie Boys have been blending rap-rock, hip hop, funk, and hardcore punk since 1986’s Licensed to Ill. In 1996’s The In Sound From Way Out, the rapping trio stretched their instrumental chops to create a funky, boom bap-inspired collection of some of the stickiest beats in hip hop history. Today, albums like 1989’s Paul’s Boutique and 2004’s To the 5 Boroughs still make it to contemporary ‘best-of’ lists.
Talented rapper-singers Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda, along with Joe Hahn’s DJ chops, were undoubtedly the main driving forces behind the most commercially successful rap-rock group in history. Whether you love or hate Linkin Park, the fact is that their emo and alternative rock-driven music was what allowed rap-rock to be truly appreciated by mainstream audiences. Although hardcore fans may argue that their best work continues to be their first album, 2000’s Hybrid Theory, later albums like 2003’s Meteora and 2010’s A Thousand Suns are passionate, technical masterpieces in their own right.
While there are many other artists that deserve at least a mention on this list, these are the ones that have paved the way for the rest. In the future, rap, hip hop, and rnb will continue to rapidly evolve with the many sub-genres of rock. The next mind-melting rap-rock album could be just around the corner.

L!NK breaks down the Master Pen behind his song “Never Know”
As much as Hip Hop can be a feel, lyrics are still very much important. Not only are lyrics important, but the way they’re delivered plays an intricate part in the way the music is felt. When an emcee can fuse the two together, it makes fireworks, and fireworks is what is brought to you by L!NK on his exciting record “Never Know”. An amazing debut filled with upper echelon talent and conviction, to make it a must hear display of Hip Hop. He was gracious enough to take time to answer some questions for us. Below he breaks down his Master Pen.
Who is L!NK the artist?
L!NK is an artist inspired and influenced by all different styles of art. L!NK is distinctly 100% me because not only is it my last name, but it also represents my objective as a creative. My hope is to connect the audience to my worldview, my being, my experiences, and my imagination.
I’m a big fan of not only music but movies as well. When it comes to what I create, I aim to produce a full experience from top to bottom that is cohesive and layered. I’m constantly challenging myself to consume styles of art I am least prepared for or used to. Once something new registers, I like to see what elements I appreciate the most and then see how and if it can supplement my creative vision.
What inspired the lyrical approach to your “Never Know”?
The main drive behind this song was to put out a track that pushes people to recognize that I’ve arrived. With this song being the formal beginning of my professional career, I wanted the chorus to let people know in a basic, accessible way that you don’t know who I am, where I’ve been, or what I’m capable of- so how could you know what to expect? But even with the nescience, you’re here listening to me, and repeatedly.
As an artist, I’ve been a work in progress for at least a decade. I’ve made a lot of music that people would have put out. I’ve reinvented my style a couple times and continually asked myself to be better. I was always that dude that people didn’t understand why they didn’t put out any of their music. So for unfamiliar people to hear this song, I’m stressing that they don’t know what came before this and all the growth I did behind closed doors. A lot of artists go right into public with their music and try to polish it as they go, but I’m ready and there is no learning curve.
Beyond that, the idea of Never Know is pretty simple. It’s pushing people to understand my business ready mentality, my interest in being mature, and overall just making a statement that I got flair and style to boot. I’d say it’s more of a warm-up track, something to get people loose with and for them to feel a bounce to. I didn’t want people to be overwhelmed with some of the more complex projects I’ve made.
In your opinion what is the bar you wrote that you knew would get people’s attention and break it down?
I’m not really sure what parts of the song have captured people’s attention the most, I’d say it’s been a mix in regards to that. The bars that I delivered with the most energy are definitely the ones I heard from people about the most.
“This is big dog business and we gettin some bones”
I think was a line that a lot of people have reacted to the most thus far. I guess I weaved through the hi-hats in a way that captivated some people, and the dog-like adlib concluded the verse with authority similar to an alpha male marking their territory…it’s just kinda like the dogs are here and we’re bout to get this paper! Haha
What do you think is the bar that people may sleep on listening to “Never Know” and why?
“You wanna be skillful? Better keep it simple
Never less weight in a word than a pistol
Imma drop missiles if I got my say
Stay out in the middle when I spot my prey“
The point I’m trying to make here is this…some cats are out there trying to do too much in order to compensate or prop up their abilities as an artist. Sometimes you have to bring it back to the basics and focus on the fundamentals. You can always add all the jazz, all the flair after the fact. Just make sure that what you’re preaching, and your core philosophies are all in line and battle-tested.
People sometimes, especially rappers- tend to use violence in their lyrics and it can often distract from the power that lies in words. There’s nothing wrong with telling a story which is violent, it’s all-important but words are most powerful in my book. So in short, this section of the verse is going along the “The pen is mightier than the sword” adage. Someone could use violent intimidation tactics, but that’s not my style as I have no interest in violence. If I aim to dismantle you, I’ll do it in a way that violence could never accomplish because in the end, most missiles are more powerful than a pistol.
What would you rate your pen on “Never Know” 1-10? 10 being the highest?
Maybe 7.8. I don’t see this being the heaviest song lyrically but part of that is because it’s meant to be a simple display of energy and skill. Maybe some people will say they think I’m being harsh on myself, while others think I’m being too kind. Who knows? What I do know is I have high expectations for myself.
What can people expect next from L!NK?
More music!I dropped a new song called “Born to Win” on August 28th which is available on all major platforms. I produced it, just as a I produce a lot of my other work. I am putting out new music once a month and the intention is to give more and more understanding of my core artistry as it goes. Not only that, but each song is progressively better in my book. Can’t give away the best at the beginning haa! I’m mad hype for it all I can’t wait to share what I have with the world.
