People come to music for a lot of different things, including to have fun. For the most festive times in life, there’s always music associated with it, to score the time perfectly to bring it more life. That type of music is what IT’s SPOILTBRAT brings with his song “In My Yard”. A track filled with infectious grooves and energy that feels good to hear. So much so we had to know more about this talented creative, and he was gracious enough to take time to answer some questions for us. Below is the interview.
Who is IT’S SPOILTBRAT the artist?
IT’S SPOILTBRAT is the musical moniker for Adebesin Mobolaji, a singer and a writer who can easily switch through genres of music and create magic. I describe myself as a star, icon and a rare breed.
Who are some of your influences and how do you incorporate that in your music?
I love every other musician but I don’t really have someone who influenced me or someone who I could call a mentor. I started writing when I was 12 but never hit the studio. Last year was my first time in the studio and there have been a lot of changes. I don’t want to be like anyone else, I just want to be me. Basically everybody is doing good with their own tunes but I am a whole vibe when it comes to making music. I just listen to the riddim of the beat and I let it all flow with ease. This means I am my own influencer, my own mentor and also a fan of myself …..number one fan to be precise.
What was your favorite part of creating your new song “IN MY YARD”?
IN MY YARD is my first studio produced single and it really made me happy because I felt like if I can keep up with the pace I will keep on creating magic over and over again. When we got to the last verse which was composed in under 2-3 minutes, me and my producer Robikay had to complete the music because it was an incomplete freestyle that was playing in my head. Not only did we complete it, we made a hit out of it!
What is the biggest thing you want people to take away from your music?
HIT SONGS BY ME ARE PLAYING IN MY HEAD. I WISH YOU COULD FEEL THE RIDDIM IN YOUR HEAD TOO. My first three releases on platforms were just freestyles which I just want to put out there for relevance. I would like y’all to anticipate my coming EP’Joann S Bach(Volume 1)’. This EP will express a lot of words in music and explore a lot of emotions. I also want to teach people how to love, flex, and maintain stability. Music is very beautiful, strong and colorful when you are into the riddim and there are a lot of lessons you can learn from it if you listen with your heart.
What advice would you give an inspiring artist?
“BE YOU” They can be whatever they want to be if they focus on getting to the top.
What’s next for IT’S SPOILTBRAT?
The next agenda is simple. Gather my own fanbase, drop my EPs and singles back to back and take over the world.Imagine already having 5 EPs ready in 7 months, each containing a different genre of music.HOW ICONIC IS THAT?
