In order to stand out from all the artists out there an artist has to have presence. A commanding presence about themselves that when you hear them, you’re instantly engaged into what they’re doing, as you take in the high level of skill they’re displaying. That type of presence is what B.Z.A. has on her new song “Steppin” featuring Dut Bul. A high energy track that her amazing flow and lyricism shines in a real way digestible for the masses. We wanted to know about this amazing artist and she was gracious enough to take time to answer some questions for us. Below she breaks down her Master Pen.
Who is B.Z.A the artist?
B.Z.A is the person I always wanted to be. I feel like B.Z.A is the better side of me, the humble side whereas Brianna feels like I’m in the past. I definitely feel like becoming an artist has made me so much more humble and appreciative of things than I used to. B.Z.A as an artist has helped me express my feelings and emotions a lot better than how I would normally solve life problems when life gets tough.
What inspired the lyrical approach to your ‘Steppin”?
When writing this record, I wanted to create a song about having self confidence and belief in yourself, and your dreams. As a kid I was always the quiet kid. I never really talked much as I was once afraid of everyone’s opinions of me. I soon learned how to not care and so I wanted to create a song that when you hear it – it gives the mentality to get up and chase your dreams, and believe in yourself.
In your opinion what is the bar you wrote that you knew would get people’s attention and break it down?
When listening to my verse, I feel like I got a lot of attention on the bar when I said “Crazy Story got the city shaking so you really don’t wanna test us” as I recently dropped a remix to “Crazy Story” by King Von featuring Dut Bol; the song has become a bit of an anthem in our city of Adelaide, South Australia, and many people that listen to my music now, know me well from my verse on the “Crazy Story” remix. You can listen to that here: https://soundcloud.com/rodger-david-2/crazy-story-remix
What do you think is the bar that people may sleep on to ‘Steppin”, and why?
I definitely think one of my favourite lines out of ‘Steppin” would be “All these mistakes in my life, yeah you know I really gotta change it”. The reason being, is I have definitely made many mistakes in the past, which a lot of people don’t know or don’t understand why I was doing those things at the time. Music helped me get into a safer place and has helped me to get my life back on track. I can truly say music saved the person I was and made me better today.
What would you rate your pen on ‘Steppin”, 1-10, 10 being the highest?
‘Steppin” compared to the other records I have released is way more upbeat with a whole different flow. I definitely wanted to test myself with this record and make it fun and bright instead of pouring my heart and emotions out. I would rate my pen on this record 8/10, as I definitely think I pushed myself and it turned out great.
What can people expect next from B.Z.A?
BIGGER AND BETTER. I can’t wait for everyone to hear my new music, sound etc. I’m currently working on a project at the moment, I feel like when that drops, people and my existing fans will definitely get an understanding of my story and the artist I truly am.
