Violet Capri talks Her Career, Influences, “Fiening (Remix)”, and More for The Promising Songstress

The ability to connect with the listener determines how far one can go. Building that attachment with the listener to make them life long fans of your work, knowing they can run to your tunes for a certain feel. Violet Capri can do all of that and sky is the limit for this one of a kind talent. We became fans of her work after hearing her new record “Fiening (Remix)” featuring Jide. We had to know more and she was gracious enough to take the time to answer some questions for us. Below is the interview.

Who is Violet Capri the artist?

I’m a R&B/Pop singer and songwriter, born and raised in Texas. My mission as an artist is to be authentic, to spread love and peace, to be true to myself yet relatable to others, and to always stand up for what is right..very passionately..especially if its controversial. 🙂

Who are some of the influences and how do you incorporate that into the music?

My biggest influence in music the last few years has been Jhené Aiko. Her authenticity, her spirituality, her vocals, her lyrics, her growth; all of these things have inspired me to pursue music and to become the best version of myself to share with the world. I’ve been told a few times that certain little melodies I sing resemble her, which is the ultimate compliment. It’s unintentional but goes to show just how deeply she’s influenced me.

What was the creative process for your new song “Fiening (Remix)”?

As soon as I heard the beat, I got a sensual, playful vibe from it and decided to build a song off of that. I kept a special someone in reference as I wrote these lyrics as if I was singing this song to him. After I finished writing the song, I loved what I had but got the idea of doing a remix with Jidé. We had been wanting to do a song together for a minute, and I knew he would take this song to a different level.

How did you know it was time to release “Fiening (Remix)”?

I was so excited about this remix since the day Jidé agreed to do it. As soon as I heard the final product, I loved it so much. I was very eager to release the track because I knew people were going to really vibe with it.

What is the biggest thing you want people to take away from your music?

To be their true authentic selves. I hid in the shadows for so long out of insecurity and fear. Once I finally found the confidence and courage to go after this passion of mine, I found purpose and fulfillment. It’s been incredibly liberating to create songs such as Fiening and 2020 Vision in which I share these depths of me that have always been there, but so few have seen. I’ve always felt pressured to be this cookie cutter girl, when in fact.. I’m so the opposite. I’m complicated, I’m a little eccentric, I’m a depressed, anxious mess on some days and a boss ass bitch on others. I’m me and I love me. I hope I inspire others to be unapologetically themselves.

If you could give any advice to someone looking to become an independent artist, what would it be?

My advice would be first, to make sure you are going into this because you are truly passionate about it.. because it gets hard. Especially if you are a songwriter like myself, inspiration doesn’t always come easy. There’s a lot of emotional, psychological and physical battles you’ll have to fight to get to that perfect final product. Be kind to yourself throughout your creative process. Make sure the music you create fulfills your soul and fits the vibrations you want to share with the world.

What’s next for Violet Capri?

I’m currently working on my second EP to be released later this year. I’m also really looking forward to doing live shows, once it is safe to do so again. I ultimately just want to continue to create music with good vibes and share it with all you..forever 🙂
