As an artist is important to put some soul in the music. Some feeling to it that makes people feel your music, to the point whether they’re familiar with you or not, know you are speaking nothing but truth. That’s the level of conviction 1Twiss has in his new song “The Cut Off”. A captivating record that grabs you as soon as you hear it. He was gracious enough to take time to answer some questions for us. Below is the interview.
Who is 1Twiss the artist?
1Twiss is an independent hip-hop artist and producer. Born Raheem Damarea Kirkling I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada but raised by my sister with two brothers in Atlanta Ga.i started doing music when I was 12 but didn’t really start taking it seriously until I got to high school.
Who are some of the influences and how do you incorporate that into the music?
Most of my influence comes from my experiences. I’m heavily influenced by what I’m going through or what I have gone through.I try to be as authentic as possible with my lyrics.All the emotions that I feel throughout the day, week or month plays a huge role in my craft because that’s where I get my inspiration.
What was the creative process for your new song “The Cut Off”?
The creative process for “The Cut Off” wasn’t really to complex, I wrote the verses based off of real feelings I had at the time.However the hook was actually the creative part about the song. Me and my boys were just talking during a session one day not knowing the microphone was recording and it caught almost everything we talked about. So I got a chance to listen to the conversation we had. I liked some of the things we talked about and I wanted to somehow make them apart of the project.I always look for ways to incorporate my team into my music and that’s what I did with this song.I expect to do more of that in the near future.
How does it feel now that “The Cut Off” is out for people to hear?
Now that the “The Cut Off” is released I’m confident people will start to notice where I’m headed with my music. I hope my audience can start to see the transformation as they grow with me. I’m excited for this one!
What is the biggest thing you want people to take away from your music?
The biggest thing I want people to take away from my music is never be afraid to express how you feel and remain authentic. Being raw is pure.I want viewers to understand no matter how much hype they have built around them, being humble and staying true to you are some of the riches characteristics to have.
If you could give any advice to someone looking to become an independent artist, what would it be?
My advice to anyone looking to become an independent artist is to chase the passion not the dollar. Know what you want.Get out of your head and get into life! Understand there will be learning lessons and distractions that will make you or break you. There will be many hard sacrifices.When it’s all said and done if you know where you are going nothing can stop you.
What’s next for 1Twiss?
What’s next is my first project dropping in August called “Radikal”I’m looking forward to giving everyone real music! It’s gonna contain 6-8 unreleased tracks with some pretty dope producers involved.Keep it locked!
