NyuKyung Speaks on Artistry, “Harmonic Trap”, “MisMatch”, and What’s to Come

It’s easy to comfortable with a certain style that works for you, but some people decide to take chances and see how great they can be. NyuKyung is known for supreme lyricism but with his latest release “MisMatch”, he gave the world it’s first taste of the “Harmonic Trap” sound. A melodic approach to his music that worked wonders musically for this special talent. He was gracious enough to take time to answer some questions for us. Below is the interview!

Who is NyuKyung the artist present day?

I’m just a kid who comes from humble beginnings trying to make his dream into a reality. Fresh off of graduating college and finishing my football career, I plan to make music my full time living and eventually leave a lasting legacy.

What are some of your influences for your “Harmonic Trap” sound?

T pain, Usher, Michael Jackson, and Tory Lanez comes to mind. I listened to a wide range of genres growing up so my musical taste is very broad. I just take elements of what I like and put them into songs in a way that is cohesive and entertaining for the listener.

What was the creative process for your new song “MisMatch”?

This is my first release with our signature “harmonic trap” sound and I wanted to make something that would elicit good Vibes. Sometimes I feel like with my music I can be too serious so I wanted to really lighten up the mood with a more pop rap approach.

How does it feel now that “MisMatch” is out for people to hear?

Honestly, we made the song so long ago I’m not sure how I feel about it. We’ve made so many more projects since making this song so to my ears it’s a bit outdated. I’m glad we were finally able to get it out though.

What is the biggest thing you want people to take away from your music?

I want people to realize I’m just a human being and that I make mistakes like every other person in this world. I make mistakes with women, money, relationships, etc and the only difference between me and the rest of the population is I put it on record. I’m an open book and I want my supporters to really get to know me through my musics

If you could give any advice to someone looking to become an independent artist, what would it be?

Don’t ever let a circumstance define who you are. We all makes mistakes so learn from them and move forward.

What’s next for NyuKyung?

My album “trap Harmonix” drops middle of June and after that I’ve got some more rap projects ready for the world. Consistent releases during this pandemic is a must.
