When starting a new endeavor you never know what you will get, especially concerning music. When we started Global World Wednesdays it was a way to discover talent and give feedback. What we came across was some special talent from artists and producers, especially Kribbsbeats. Standing out as a producer is tough, but when Kribbsbeats brought his record “Moshpit” to the live, it was undeniable. We wanted to learn more about him and he was gracious enough to take the time to answer some questions for us. Below is the interview.

Who is Kribbsbeats the Producer?

Kribbsbeats is my production alias that flips modern day tracks and creates dark-sounding beats.

How did you get into producing?

I used to play drums when I was younger and I always had melodies/beats playing in my head so I knew I needed to do something to make the ideas come to life. Some homies used to mess around on FL Studio and I kinda started because of them.
What production software do you use and why?

I currently use FL Studio 20. I like the simple layout and organizational accessibility FL offers. I tried out Ableton and Logic for a bit but they just weren’t for me.
What was your creative process for creating “Moshpit”?

Moshpit was a really fun flip to make (Baby Keem made the original track). Usually with flips I’ll start with a sample/melody and integrate the vocal in after, but I actually did the reverse for Moshpit. The vocal goes hard and I really wasn’t a fan of the original, so I knew I had to put my twist on it.

What was your favorite project to work on?

Lately I’ve just been building an arsenal of flips and it’s been mad fun. I enjoy making beats and a few local artists I’ve attempted to work with have taken too long to get back to me with vocals so I just do my own thing. Currently I’m dropping a flip a day until I run out – I’d say this process has been the most fun so far, but I really interest the idea of exclusively producing an EP for an artist one day.

Which artist would you love to collab with and why?

I’d really enjoy working with an artist like Travis or Kanye because of the producing value and collaboration they’d bring to it, but Jack Harlow, Amine, and bbno$ have been on my radar.

What’s next for Kribbsbeats?

More music, more music, more music. I’ve been holding onto a lot of stuff for the past year and I’m ready to drop push it out and keep moving. More flips, more DJ sets, maybe a beat tape soon(?), a collab EP will definitely happen in the near future.
