“Gotta keep it real I don’t need a deal”
Master Pen just isn’t about writing dope lyrics. It’s about utilizing your pen and voice to the fullest. Delivering a message and giving the listener an experience that will make them better by the time the track stops. An artist that does that is Illa with his song “Hero”. Illa uses his voice to preach the good news and after hearing “Hero” we knew we had to know more. Illa was gracious enough to take time to break down his Master Pen with us. Below is the interview.
Who is Illa the artist?
Illa the Artist is a light worker. Bringing the good news of Christ with dope bars dropped into your spirit. I work to share the life giving power from my tongue Proverbs 18:21. I am blessed to be able to use what God gave me to bring a message that can inspire greatness from the inside out.
What inspired the spiritual and lyrical approach to “Hero”?
Hero is inspired by my Hero Jesus Christ Yeshua to the rescue in a personal spiritual warfare battle experience I was having. It caused some fear to start to rise in me and I couldn’t understand why I was feeling attacked, this was a daily thing that I fought. I felt more anxiety than I had ever felt before, but regardless of what I was feeling I always felt deep inside me that everything was going to be alright. My inspiration drew from the Bible, full of songs, affirmations, blessings, commands, promises, and truth. This would be a song about a victorious battle against the spirit of Jezebel, my refuge was in the shelter of the Lord.
John 15:1-27 l
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you.
This scripture let me know that God pays attention to His branches connected to the vine He prunes (cuts)the branches so they produce more. I imagine the parallel connection God does what He does to help us produce more fruit. More of love more of joy more of peace more of faith, more more more. This is something to be thankful for.
In your opinion what is the bar you wrote that you knew would get people’s attention and break it down?
The Bar that I wrote that I thought would catch peoples attention was at the very beginning “You don’t gotta wear a cape to be a hero, sometime the villain do to stunt Kneival, hear no evil see no evil speak no evil, only life we living wow we on a billion air, hands all in it, God did it God did it God did it” cut the branches at the tip prolific.
God gave us two trees to eat from the Tree of knowledge of Good and Evil & the Tree of Life. Christ is the tree of Life he taught a lot of life bringing lessons, and didn’t the serpent come looking like a nice sweet “guy” to Eve? Sometimes people can come into your life looking like a hero with the intentions to deceive. Just a thought.
“Trumpet Sounding from the Pres, Im just marching to the band, frequency who coming with (bandwidth).
Of course Donald Trump is our President and he says a lot of things that the world doesn’t agree with, Im not surprised. Trumps not perfect but who is, I will say that I can see he is trying to be a righteous man best he can. I also believe God has his hand on him and is lining things up for the time of rightousness.
What do you think is the bar that people may sleep on listening to “Hero” and why?
I cant say there is a bar that people are sleeping on, I hope people can receive what I am singing in joy and in love and light. I hope people are encouraged and see another perspective of handling opposition.
What would you rate your pen on “Hero” 1-10? 10 being the highest?
I rate my pen on this one 7 😉
